Over the past 3 years we have sold over 1000 vehicles on ebay and decided that we would take a new approach to the advertising. Let's face it, when you buy a car on ebay the main thing you are lacking is the ability to test drive. Our new approach to the marketplace will be to give you a "virtual test drive" so to speak. Rather than a fancy description we are going to keep it simple. We are going to pair a description of our test drive and mechanic evaluation with a list of the pro's and con's of this particular car. These will be based on years of buying vehicles and knowing what to look for when purchasing. Please remember above all that it is IMPOSSIBLE for a used car to be perfect so any seller that doesn't list flaws is just not being thorough, we are taking the guess work out of online buying. Please also remember that we are doing our best to describe them well but if you have a specific question just ask and we will respond promptly. When we got the truck in we did a full service and changed the ABS pump (a common issue on the discovery). I drove this truck for about 25 miles and noticed no issues during the test drive. The previous owner seemed to keep up to date on everything. We sell a lot of discovery's and know just what to look for when we buy them. This one is optioned out just right with all the bells and whistles but not the items that can create headaches in the SE7 such as the rear air and the air suspension. The truck is really in excellent shape mechanically, as you would expect with such low miles. All accessories worked properly and the truck on the whole seemed to run out exceptionally well. You could definitely tell it never saw rough terrain. When I returned and checked it out in the shop I found no note worthy issues. The brakes seemed to have plenty of life left and it has a good set of tires on it.

The Good:

series III update - 4.6 Engine gives more power than previous 4.0 - Dual Sunroofs!! - all the toys are on this truck - upgraded factory wheels - clean truck - no mechanical issues - rear jump seats! - only one little spot where the headliner is loose (most of the discovery's have very bad headliners)

The Bad:

The truck is clean overall but there are a few things I wanted to note. There are a few shopping cart dings on the passenger door (see pics), the suede on the driver's door panel has some wear from the driver's arm resting on it (common on these trucks), the front seats show average wear but no rips or cracks.

HOW WE CREATE OUR CONDITION REPORT

 COSMETIC:
When you walk around a car on a lot you tend to think about several things based on the appearance and condition of the items you see. Obviously nobody walks around a car and says "that fender looks excellent" and if they do, what does that mean? Below I have have put the terms used in the condition report in a more user friendly context. Imagine walking around this car with a buddy and sharing opinions, if I were that buddy then this is what I would say.

-Excellent: "wow, I just can't believe how clean this car is for its age"
-Good: "for being ____ years old this is in really nice shape and was obviously cared for"
-Average: "well its not new but for a ___ year old car this is  no more wear than I'd expect"
-Poor: "I think this part will definitely need some attention to get it to where I'd like it to be"


Mechanical:
When you go to a lot and drive a car for the first time you immediately notice things about it. "Does the engine idle smoothly", "does the transmission shift right", "do the brakes feel good", "is the exhaust quiet", "does the car feel tight or does it wander and rattle"? These are the questions that go through my mind as I drive each car. Again, please imagine that I am the guy you are riding with during your test drive and when looking at the condition report, these are the things I would say.

-Excellent: "this is amazing how great this is, obviously the part has either been recently replaced or well cared for throughout the life of the car"
-Good: "this area of the car feels good and definitely won't need any attention in the near future"
-Average: "for the age, I would expect this type of wear and most likely you will need to give it some minor attention shortly after purchase"
-Poor: "this is something that will need work before the car is able to be driven daily"

The only items that don't really follow this guide are brakes and tires. If we rate them excellent it means we just changed them. Good means they have more than 50% life left and anything less than that and we just replace them prior to sale or clearly note it in the auction.
